System Safety Engineering Support

Work Performed:
Radiance utilized its certified ISO 9001:2000 driven design, development, manufacturing and testing processes to define stationary platform, ground vehicle and airborne platform applications system security, safety, performance and support requirements. To meet U.S. Army and Department of Defense operational, maintenance and support requirements, the Radiance developed WeaponWatch™ system design and development process identifies, defines, tracks and allocates platform safety requirements throughout the design. Safety requirements are allocated at the subcomponent level (i.e. electrical isolation, lasers, mechanical, weight, form, function, EMI, EMC). The eighteen (18) advanced technology Anti-Tampering (AT) certified WeaponWatch™ (Weapons Surveillance System (WSS)) systems designed, tested, manufactured and delivered under this contract are deployed and integrated with the Persistent Threat Detection System (PTDS), a perimeter defense and security system at southwest Asia Military Forward Operating Bases (FOB). This system design meets the operational safety release requirements for these standard military platforms and uses standard military vehicle power (18-36 Volt DC).

Radiance provided a WeaponWatch™ Computer-based Training Package, Operator’s Manuals and Training Plan. These deliverables include the key safety and operational cautions derived during the design phase.

Functional Area Lead: 
Mr. Greg Lawson, Director Engineering/Manufacturing holds a Masters degree in Physics and has 20 years experience in commercial and defense industry systems engineering, design and development engineering including Real-Time-Spectral optical sensor design and manufacturing. Responsible for the development of elements of ISO 9001:2000 compliant quality and safety system. Designed and fabricated laboratory and field test equipment.
