Productive, Inexpensive and
Environmentally Friendly

Radiance Technologies has developed an environmentally friendly, automated, mechanical clam harvester to increased clam production and lower associated labor costs.

Currently, most mechanical means are outlawed within the United States because they significantly disrupt the clam growing environment. Harvesting of farm-raised clams is dependent on the costly and labor-intensive process of manual raking (which is also associated with repetitive motion injuries).

Radiance Technologies has developed an approach that uses vibratory action to guide a clam harvesting extractor through the clam growing substrate. The vibratory action reduces both the force required to cut through the clam bed and minimizes disruption to the clam bed. Clam growing regions and conditions vary across the nation but the Radiance proprietary design is universally applicable. The basic harvesting extractor head can be outfitted to operate underwater using a watercraft for propulsion, attached to a wheeled system (walk-behind) for harvesting on firm soils in tidal regions or “floated” across firmed bottoms within a foot or two of water.
